I began writing during my adolescence. It was a time
when I felt no one understood me as “Christina”—my
emotions, reactions, and choices—and I felt alone.
It was difficult for me to express myself. Connections with
music caused me to start writing in my notebooks
during class. Reading Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, and
Alice Walker challenged me to look deeper within
myself, to write with meaning from the soul, which
helped heal internal wounds no one ever saw.
I am choosing to make my own path, and making this
journey worth every breath I am allowed.
Everyone has a story, but not many get to narrate it.
I believe every soul has a purpose. Mine is to share
myself, my life, with those open to it.
